Unparalleled customer service. I called them today as a last ditch effort to procure a single piece of white oak for a nosing. I was tying in to a white oak floor, and red oak wasn't an option. My usual source for atypical hardwoods was temporarily shutdown due to Covid, and finding a vendor who was willing to take the time to provide a single piece of wood was not promising.
I called the main office number at Carlisle and I spoke to Marina. I fully expected her to say it wasn't worth the effort, but she said I would have better luck contacting the warehouse, and she provided me their direct line. I spoke to Ricky, and again, I expected him to say it wasn't going to happen, but he put me on hold and said he would check inventory.
He got back to me and said they had a board, but that I would have to go through sales to make a purchase. He forwarded me to Lynn in sales and she drew up the order. She said it would likely be ready for pickup the following day. I happened to be just down the road later in the afternoon and figured I would swing in to see if I could grab it. When I pulled into the parking lot, the shop guys were all headed to their cars as they were closing.
After a full day of work, I had 3 different guys stop on their way to their vehicles and ask me if I needed anything. The first guy had already jumped on it and arranged to have the piece brought out. Carlisle was not going to make much money on the sale, and it would have been perfectly reasonable for every person I spoke to to tell me to look elsewhere.
The profit they made on the sale probably didn't cover the expense of getting it to me. In addition to the inconvenience and their going out of their way, if I was unhappy with the piece, or if it ultimately didn't suit my needs and I tried to return it, they would have lost money, but it seemed like every person I spoke to couldn't help but be helpful.
I hope to have the opportunity to place a large order with them in the future. If this is the kind of service they provide for a single board, they must be second to none on an actual order. I hope I got all the employee's names right.
