Working with Mark and Green Mountain was a pleasure and the madrone flooring is beautiful. Absolutely gorgeous. Because the flooring is an engineered product it is stable and is the same as when installed two years ago, with no expansion and contraction problems normally found with solid wood flooring. The criticism I have for the flooring itself is the relatively poor resistance of the finish to scratching and a tendency to water spot.
I found a technique to virtually eliminate scratches using colored ink pencils, Woca Paste Maintenance and Woca Oil Refresher. The scratches basically disappear. The bigger problem is water spotting. We installed the flooring throughout the house, including the kitchen (but not the baths). Any water drops not dried will spot. We noticed this problem around our dogs water dish.
Even though the floor around the dish had a mat, our dog slobbered anyway and you could follow the dribbles away from the dish. They didn't always get mopped up right away. When they were finally cleaned up a spot frequently remained. We attempted to treat the individual floor boards with the oil refresher and maintenance paste with less satisfactory results than with the scratches. Contacted Mark for a solution and am confident that he will get us one. Overall, I would recommend the flooring products from Green Mountain Woodworks. The matte finish we have is really beautiful and Mark has always been easy to deal with.

Very complicated flooring project with Green Mountain earlier this year and had a positive experience. Lots of back and forth details that had to be worked out- their team solved some issues with our design that we hadn't noticed saving us lots of time and probably money. Custom stair parts and large expanses of wide plank flooring- all fit and finish was tight, designers and clients very happy with the results. Will use again.

Wow! It has been about a year since we've had our Green Mountain Woodworks floors installed and what more can I say. We absolutely love them! It was a pleasure working with you and your talented team of craftspeople on this project. My husband and I couldn't be happier and we will be in touch soon about a butcher block counter top order.

Finally moved into our new home and couldn't be happier with our custom Green Mountain California Chestnut floors. We had looked at dozens of flooring showrooms and couldn't find anything we liked. Mark was great- no samples at first, we just sat down and chatted about what we wanted our house to FEEL like. They developed small samples based on our conversations, it did take a little longer than expected back and forth but in the end they built us a large panel sample that felt like us, which we kept to help match with cabinets, tile and wall paint. Prices are a bit higher than we hoped for but we really felt like we got a floor and home that feels exactly like what we envisioned. Thanks a bunch.

Dishonest, sleazy, immoral, unresponsive. We ordered an entire house worth of what we expected to be top-quality hardwood from them. It was very late and Mark Stella, the Green Mountain sales rep, ignored repeated emails from us trying to pin down when it would arrive (and he was rude and dismissive when he did bother to reply). We got the impression that because they already had our money they did not feel the need to reply.
Then wood then showed up defective. Both our installer, Mark/GreenMountain, and the mill that produced the wood all agreed the product was defective. Mark then decided he would not fix the wood. He even went so far as to not pass along an offer by the mill to pay to fix the wood, even though GreenMountain would not have to pay! Why? Presumably because he did not want to admit fault and if you have no morals what incentive do you have to do the right thing when you already have conned people out of their money?
He chose to ignore us rather than own up to the problem and fix it. All in all, it was horrible dealing with Green Mountain, especially Mark Stella. It felt very much like they were con artists and have no problem scamming people and then ignoring their repeated, polite requests for assistance to remedy the problem. In the end Mark stopped responding to all of our emails and told us he would not fix the problem. He, and they, are scam artists that you should avoid.

Outstanding company with a strong ethic and an excellent professional staff. We couldn't be happier with our gleaming purple eucalyptus hardwood floors. This wood is beautiful, rare, and luxurious but also reclaimed (salvage) so it has minimally impact on the environment. We will use Green Mountain again!
