This is one of the best flooring companies I have ever dealt with. I had nowhere else to turn for my complicated flooring job. If I could give zero stars I would. Davis has work ethic is just as crappy as his workmanship. I reached out to several companies in August to help restore my grandmas work floors. His bid was more than the other guys but I really liked him and thought he was a good man. While chatting he told me about his dead wife, which later I found out that was bullshit. we connected on our faith and I really thought I "scored" with him.

At the time of meeting there was still some carpet on the floors but I had raised it so he could see the extensive damage. He was very clear that he could do the job and do the job right. Never once did he recommend that I replace the entire floor as being the only option, he made a passing comment but I said I wasn't interested if we could restore what we had.

I made it known that I was going out of town and that I was not in a rush. He told me to have the house cleared by Sunday of that week. My husband and I spent the next few days making sure the house was cleared and the carpet was ripped out. After the carpet was ripped out I realized the floors were worse than I thought and I went ahead and sent him photos of the floors - his response is in the email screenshot below. Again, he did not recommend completely ripping out the floors and starting fresh.

He did say that some wood would need to be replaced and that there would be some discoloration, I'm 100% ok with the discoloration - I actually kind of like it. He ended up replacing 25sq ft of flooring (or so he says) and I even allowed him to add baseboards - which I'll add her verbally quoted me one thing and charged me more. Before I leave out of town I give him $2000 cash for the deposit.

He finished the job while I'm away. I pay him, site unseen, and additional $2500 via zelle. This is only because my bank would not allow me to send more. Leaving me with a balance of a little over $600. I get home a day or two later and see the floors. I'm heartbroken, I immediately contact him and send him videos and photos of the work and how unfinished it is.

He strings me along for about a week and finally sends a guy to fix the baseboards and "add more color" to the cracks in the floors. this takes two days and when it was done I just sent him the money even though I knew he truly didn't deserve it. We spent the next few weeks moving furniture into the home. I purchased large rugs so literally very little of the floor is exposed. We've lived in the home for about 30 days and the floors are falling apart.

I dropped an ice cube on the floor and it ruined that part of the floor. The ice didn't even have a chance to melt but what little water that did get on the floor did crazy damage! I was very clear before work started that the floors need to be sealed. I have animals and kids, we can't have floors I need to baby. accidents happen. He guaranteed me I'd be happy and asked me to give them a chance.

Now here we are 30 days after moving in and I think I e given them a chance. I wrote Davis an email this morning asking that he refund the floor refinishing cost. I'd work with him on the price but give me something back so I can put that towards new floors and he basically told me to F off! I included his email below. but his response to my unhappiness about the floors was the rip out the baseboards and refund that cost.

The whole situation is a nightmare and now I'm going to have to file a claim with small claims court as well as with the BBB and against his license. I'm not one to want something for nothing. I put my trust in him and he didn't deliver. He owes me this refund. My advice to anyone looking to get a floor is stay away from this company and Davis. Don't fall for his smooth talking and bullshit. he isn't going to do you any favors and you'll be so bummed with the end results.

Awesome. Friendly and knowledgeable. Peter and his brother were excellent. Repaired my wood flooring perfectly. Barely noticible. I urge you to use them. Good prices, great work!

This is a long-overdue review of a poor job. While your customer service has been accommodating enough, we find your workmanship to be sloppy, of poor quality, and completely inferior. Heather S., I agree. He puts sentimental stories out there about his wife or "needing to feed his kids" to sell you on job. I got suckered in. The fact that your crew is at our home five times and could not finish the project to our satisfaction is unbelievable.

The job should've been finished completely, with high-quality workmanship, on the first day. It is outrageous to have to bring you back five additional times to finish the job. And as far as we are concerned, the job is still not finished our satisfaction. There are numerous, cross-grain scratches in the kitchen and dining area indicating a very poor-quality sanding job.

The wood filler was applied in a very sloppy manner and looks completely unprofessional. The stain was applied in numerous areas unevenly and still remains uneven in many areas. Our floor and stairs were left with numerous holes --large and small -- that were left unfilled. Your crew punched holes in our drywall and did not repair them. You overcharged us for the entire project, including replacement of the small sub-floorboard in the kitchen that was found have termite damage.

Our mistake for agreeing to your terms. And finally, you initiated collection proceedings against us *one day* after the job was finished. Can we have an opportunity to look at your work? This is outrageous, unprofessional, and insulting. I do not recommend Davis and his crew. He talks a good story to get you to commit, then the project goes south.

Integrity of this company employees beware. I was at home depot and saw an employee wearing company shirt Stealing sanding pads. Very sad that for one guy company will take a hit.

Z Best did a wonderful job on our floors. We just bought a place and had one week to get the floors sanded, sealed, polished and cured, and they made this happen with time to spare. Our floors were originally coated with what looked like a reddish-brown paint wash. for some reason. We couldn't tell what was going on underneath but Miguel came out and did a thorough site visit and told us our job and timeline would be no problem.

They sanded, sealed and polished approximately 600 square feet of red oak in our place and finished it beautifully in 2 working days. This included showing us samples of finishes on our floors after sanding. Miguel was great to work with and punctual, while Davis, Tal and Holly were thorough and informative over the phone. They gave us a quote about 30 days before doing the job and charged us the exact quote upon completion.

With a job well done on-time and on-quote I couldn't have asked for anything more. -Knowledgeable -Informative -Communicative -Punctual -On-point with quote and pricing -Pleasant -Thorough I certainly recommend them and will call them again when we need something else! Before and after shots below

I wouldn't waste your time asking these guys for a quote. Starting price is $10 per sq ft and this is just labor!? At the price they charge, it makes me wonder if these guys have guest celebrity appearance during the install.

We called Z Best to refinish our 1930's hardwood and install new wood floors in our kitchen. Davis met us that night at our house and knew exactly what to do. His workers were professional and efficient. Our floors look incredible! The new floor and the 80 year old floor are virtually indistinguishably shiny and gorgeous. Unless you're a real floor weirdo and stare really closely, they look the same, and even then I think the spot would have to be pointed out.

There were a couple of spots of water damage in our TV room, and so they did a couple of extra passes. No more damage! Twenty/thirty years from now when we have to refinish again, we're definitely calling Z Best.

"Z Best" is more like Z Worst. Scheduled an in-person estimate from 12-2. He strolls in at 3:45. "I thought you were from 3-4?" Nah, bro. But he apologized. "Now I'm going to get in trouble by my wife." Cool story. I forgave him. He sounded knowledgable. Sold me on some technique he does. Said he'd send me a copious amount of photos of his work, a link to baseboards for me to pick some out, and an article on the product he uses.

Never sent me anything. until I called him a week later. He apologized. I forgave him. People forget. Went to check out some floors he did in the Hollywood Hills. A little pink for my liking, but decided to move forward with Z Best. Emailed him confirming the bid and the start date. Couple days, no response. So I called. "I got your email, but I was driving." He verbally confirmed the start date and apologized.

I forgave him. Don't text and drive. A couple weeks later and 3 days before we were supposed to start I text him saying I'll be back in town and he can drop off wood to accumulate if he needs to. "Sorry, but I don't have you in the calendar." I send him a screenshot of my email. "I cannot see we agreed on this date." Um, because you agreed on the phone.

No apology, but I forgave him because I dodged a bullet. If all of this happens before the project actually starts, I could only imagine how the process would go. We were supposed to "talk on Thursday" according to his last text to see if he could make it happen. I'll give you one guess if he did or not. If you need a flooring company, message me and I'll give you the actual best. Or second or third best. My experience with them was a nightmare.

I can't say enough good things about Z Best and the great work that Davis and his team did with restoring/refinishing our hardwood floors. Working with him was straight forward and his team is very knowledgable regarding all options for refinishing, staining, and repair. Price was very competitive and the work for almost 3,000 sq ft was completed in less than a week! Most importantly my lady is happy. Thank you Z Best!

Had scheduled an in-person estimate. Given a 2-hour window. Literally 3 minutes before the end of the window, I get a call saying that they won't be able to make it, and asked I could meet after another hour. The reason given was that they were still in another meeting. I'm totally fine if you can't show up on time, but waiting until the very last minute to give a potential customer a heads up is unreasonable.

They had a sense of how long it'd take to drive from their location, and if the business respects other people's time, you'd call as soon as you reasonably knew that being on time is impossible.

Davis and his crew were extremely pleasant, hard-working, and professional! When comparing flooring contractors, I found that Davis was the only one who was sincerely helpful in choosing a proper wood material. When it came to choosing a finish, he directed me in a bit of an unconventional direction but explained the cost benefits as well as the ecological effects it might have!

Not only was the entire Z Best Hardwood Floors team punctual, but they went above and beyond to make sure I knew how long everything was going to take. They truly are professionals and absolutely would recommend them to anyone looking for hardwood floors in Los Angeles. They installed and refinished the floors on schedule and most importantly, on budget! Thanks to Davis and Hanni for their hard work!

I wanted to wait to write my review of Davis and his crew so that it was as solid as possible. We purchased a fixer and needed to remove the outdated and disgusting pink carpet and put in wood floors. Davis came out and gave us a quote. Initially, there was miscommunication about what was included in the quote, be he was open to making it right and getting us into the house within a certain timeframe. Well, let me tell you, the crew is amazing!

They got us into the house and even came back out to handle a couple of problem spots as the varnish was coming off the treads of the stairs. They came back and fixed it, of course, at no cost. Its great to find a company that's affordable and does quality work. But its even better to find a company that is responsive and willing to respond and make things right when things go south - this is the company.

PLEASE READ-BEWARE, DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. Arrogant and unorganized. Be prepared for massive unforeseen costs. Let's start with simple measurements. Davis, the owner of this company doesn't know how to measure. He incorrectly measured our property by about 300 sq ft. When my wife asked him are u sure you do not want to come back and double check, he arrogantly said "no I'm the best etc".

So 3 days before our scheduled start, I called him and asked why our measurements looked so off. He said he would come by and check that day between 1 and 2 pm. After waiting until 2:45, we called him and he said he was still on his way etc. He never called to say he was even running late. We had to go but had someone let him in and measure. The next day he calls ( 2 days before our scheduled start) and says it's going to be $1000 dollars more because he incorrectly measured.

He then tried to rationalize this and said he gave us just an estimate.and that actually the job could become $9000.00 on the high end. Our original quote was for $3600.00. ( the highest quote I received by 2 different offers but I thought because of his reviews on Yelp that he could be trusted) Do not hire Davis or this business, he is untimely, arrogant, and unorganized. Ps this is my first negative review ever on Yelp, but felt it was my duty for other potential customers to know our horrendous experience.

Went with the company because they had great reviews and gave us the lowest quote. I need to learn my lesson about going with the lowest quote because more than once there has been added costs. which it turned out with this one as well. would have been better to go with the next company on the list that was slightly more expensive. Every little thing that we forgot to ask about (yeah, we have responsibility on us to know to ask, but we are not in the contracting business, so I do think there's some responsibility on the company to clarify ahead of time, rather than bring it up as an additional cost later). Also, they continued to delay the start date, which I understand unexpected things happen, but it just seems disorganized.

We had other companies on the ready, and went with this one. it's just annoying. I had friends available to help us move back into the house and all of that got screwed up as they were no longer available by the time the job was finished. Additionally, part of the job was completed unsatisfactorily because no one on the crew that particular day could speak English when a project decision needed to be made. and the question/answer was lost in translation. project was completed in the way we didn't want.

There was never a resolve to that unfortunately. Base shoes were cut wrong, which we just made do with by cutting extra pieces. not ideal. I've rounded up to 3, but would have preferred to give a 2.5 star.

Rude on the phone when I called about arranging for a hardwood floor refinishing estimate. Abruptly informed by the woman who answered that they don't do estimates on Saturday. I said "thank you" and hung up. As my first contact with the business, it did not encourage me to even consider hiring them.

What can I say about these guys other than there awesome at what they do. They came to give me a quote the same day I called.(super awesome) had there is that same night. They actually have very respectable and competitive prices. They workers we're very professional and always answered any questions I had. I would recommend them to my friends and family and anyone else looking to expert floor repairs. Just look at the images!

We have used Z Best 2 times now. Both times we have received the best customer service and our floors look beautiful! Davis and Hanni are wonderful and their team of guys do fabulous work! Highly recommend!

Z Best has been an excellent hardwood flooring company for me. I had old oak hardwood flooring in my LR and DR and wanted to extend it into my kitchen. Davis's team blended the new flooring into my existing flooring, then stained the new to perfectly match the old. Finally, a light sand and new poly. They were clean, neat and did the job according to their planned timetable. Looks great.

This is a business run by a perfectionist. Perfectionists who do high-quality work have strong personalities. They have strong opinions. They will tell you, in no uncertain terms, what you should and shouldn't do. But good business people are also flexible. They respect what you actually want. This is what you get from Davis. He gives you his opinion based on years of experience (he truly wants your floors to look amazing) but he also listens when you say, "No, I want x or y instead." He will give you what you want.

But he doesn't nod along and give you something crappy while charging you too much for it. If you want that, you're in luck - plenty of people will do a half-baked job and overcharge for it and shrug when it looks terrible. But Davis is going to warn you if he thinks something is going to look really bad. Don't trust 1-star reviews that amount to amateur personality assessments by thin-skinned people who didn't even hire the contractor in question!

Read reviews by people who actually hired the guy. I could not be happier with Z Best. Davis's estimate was reasonable, he made it clear he would do great work, and he delivered. His guys were cheerful, polite, responsible, and cleaned up the work site every day. The work took as long as Davis said it would. No corners were cut. Any time I needed to get in touch with Davis or Hanni, I could, and they were both always friendly and helpful on the phone.

When I had questions, they answered them in detail. Z Best sanded and refinished my older floors, and installed new white oak floors in my kitchen, family room, and a staircase. My floors look absolutely incredible - no flaws, nothing questionable, no shortcuts. I hovered and worried, but I didn't need to. I would definitely hire Z Best again, and I couldn't recommend them more. Trust Davis. Listen to him! He will do a great job and when the job is done, you'll be so glad you hired Z Best.

Z Best offered a competitive price to fix a job botched by our previous contractor. We hired Z Best to fix a patch in our quarter-sawn white oak floor, in an old home. Wilmer and his coworker were quick and totally pro--using wood from our closet to make a seamlessly laced patch in our kitchen. The finish is remarkably better than the job our previous contractor did.

Communication and attitude by Z Best was just what one would want in a professional--informative, courteous, and available! We will call Z Best again when we need a buffing and recoat. A pleasure doing business!

Z Best Hardwood helped me with sanding and finishing the hardwood floors in my 1923 California bungalow. I had 300 sq ft of White Oak and 100 sq ft of Douglas Fir which had previously been covered by tar paper, linoleum, armed concrete, and tiles. It was all in rough shape! Well I had tried to do the job myself and failed miserably. After 5 days of sweating over a holiday weekend with a large rental sander, I gave up.

I called Z Best Hardwood as the week started, and they came the exact next day to do the work. Davis and Hanni were super helpful on the phone, and the guys that did the job worked miracles. I'm very happy with the results and would highly recommend them.

I couldn't me more happy with the work that they did. I just got a house that needed a lot of work and had to be out of my apartment within a week. The floors were trashed and i needed the job (two bedrooms) done asap. I sent a request to Z Best and about 6 other businesses. Z Best was the first to respond of 3 and the only one willing to handle the quick request.

They sent someone to inspect and measure the rooms that night, working with my late work schedule, got me a quote on the spot and started the next morning. They brought a few stain options that I picked to test in the morning before I left for work and that was it. I should mention they also repaired some damaged parts of the hardwood floors too. They've just finished the job and even sent someone to my work to pick up the payment & to give me care instructions for my newly refinished floors. it's rare that I am so impressed with service these days. The team at Z Best did great work installing the wood floors in our two story condo, and advising us on what wood to choose. I had actually spent well over a month researching different engineered woods - I'd gotten samples from over a dozen stores and had finally selected one I thought we were happy with. Davis directed us to a different supplier that offered us the same look and much higher quality - thicker top layer, thicker overall, higher grade and made in America!

We were much happier with that wood than the one I'd previously found. Davis' team also installed the floor very well and on time and on budget. We've gotten a lot of compliments on our floors already. We were very happy with the experience and with the final product.
