In 1979, Gilbert (Bud) Clark opened his first flooring store in south St. Louis County after many years as a union installer. His three sons, Michael, Gary, and Jim, also installers, joined Bud, and they began to build a quality name in the flooring business, now known as Clark Floor Co. Inc. After many years of working with his tools, Bud retired and Jim took over the business.
Bud stayed on and worked as an estimator, going out to personally measure and talk with our customers.

Services
Clark Floor only uses well-trained, bonded, and insured Union Installers. They also have many years in the field installing several types of floors including carpet, hardwood, ceramic, vinyl, vinyl composition tile, laminate, and more. We have a well-organized showroom at our 7525 S. Lindbergh location to help make the process as simple and stress-free as possible. Our experienced staff will use their knowledge to help guide you in making the right decisions.

First of all, RECORD EVERY PHONE CALL AND ENCOUNTER with this company. A woman named "Jackie" accused me of giving her an installation timeframe when I hadn't, then she doubled-down and said I gave her another timeframe when I hadn't. When it was time to do the installation, "Jackie" said we changed the dates too many times so we were put at the very end of their install list.
Her passive-aggressive petty put us 6 weeks behind schedule. Their work looks nice, however, there is a stair that clearly slopes yet their lead installer said "Welp, there's nothing we can do about it." Our carpenters later said it should have been an easy fix and they had no idea why a floor company couldn't level a stair. There is also another corner of the room where the floor sinks a little, which I am assuming was also beyond their ability to recognize and repair? Again, RECORD EVERY PHONE CALL AND ENCOUNTER with this company. We have more work to do, but we will not use this company again and, quite frankly, I am surprised they are still in business.

Clark's recently refinished the original hardwood floors in the house I purchased and I couldn't be happier! The floors were very worn in spots and a color of finish that I didn't really like so I went to Clark's show room picked out a finish color then scheduled an appointment to get an estimate. It took a few days to complete the floor and they look amazing!
The owners are very professional, friendly, and knowledgeable! The pricing was great too! I highly recommend Clark Floor Company to anyone needing flooring/tiling work! Before and After photos show the amazing difference!

The service was okay but the install, especially on my stairs is shotty at best. You can see gaps where they didn't tuck the carpet on the steps so you can see through the space where it should be tucked and edges weren't cut well so there's a lot of post install maintenance. Even after calling about the steps and asking, I got no callback. Honestly, I'd not reccomended them to anyone, you're better off at a big box store.

I called, and literally, they called me back the next day! If you don't know how incredible this is, you've been living under a rock for 10 years! No one in the home improvement industry ever calls you back! Next, Jackie scheduled a time for an estimate within 2 days. I received an WRITTEN estimate that same day! Withinin 3 weeks my job was scheduled. Now, after a fast 3-day job (thanks Chris?), my wood floors have been sanded and refinished beautifully! Such a great experience! They will get my business for sure!

Highly recommend! Clark flooring transformed my living room and office by replacing old carpet with beautiful hardwood. From the office staff to the installers, all Clark Flooring employees were helpful and courteous. Install took 2 days, sanding and staining took 2 days. Staff showed up promptly everyday and completed the job in the expected timeframe. I am thrilled with the results and am looking forward to my next flooring project. I will definitely use Clark.

Clark employee came to my home to measure my kitchen floor and after prying up four layers of tile he told me he thought I had asbestos and would have to have the floor removed before Clark could put in new floor. After removal I went to Clark's office to sign contract and pay downpayment. When workers arrived they had their office call me to tell me that there would be an additional charge of $564.00 above the bid because they would have to add more plywood to bring the floor up to the correct level.
I stated that the initial employee who measured the floor told me about the four layers that had to be removed and that he also told me that Clark would do whatever it took to bring the floor up to the correct level. The woman at the office then said that I should have called them and let them know that four layers had been removed. I don't work for Clark and they are supposed to be the Professionals and not rely on the Customer to tell them THEIR JOB!
When I tried to reason with this woman and tell her this was the job of the person who initially measured and told me about the four layers she became irate and started yelling at me over the phone saying that "We (Clark) are not going to eat this extra cost." Every time I tried to speak to tell her that they bid this job and should stand behind their bid she would cut me off and start yelling again.
She finally apologized for yelling at me and offered to split the cost. I finally agreed because I didn't want to go through the whole process again with another flooring company. BUT.Clark knew what had to be removed (4 LAYERS) and being in the business they know how thick that is and they BID THE JOB! Also to yell at a Customer is uncalled for! Pretty Unprofessional!
