Just like choosing paint, it turns out that choosing flooring can drive you crazy with indecision. I owe a special thanks to Betty, who was endlessly patient with me as I stared for hours at similar wood samples, trying to make a decision. She hauled sample after sample up and down the stairs for me, kept a straight face as I debated the differences between two identical samples, and then repeated the process with the carpet.
I wanted to work with a local business and choosing Absolute made a big difference. Sam knew the other contractors I was working with at the time, and he was flexible and super helpful in coordinating schedules with them, including last minute changes. My project was completed exactly on time and within budget. I love my floors. Thank you!

We hired Absolute Flooring in the summer of 2021 to replace a portion of the hardwood floor in our kitchen and refinish the entire floor. They did a great job! Sam (the owner) clearly defined the scope of the work and stayed engaged throughout the project. Gabe and Enrique did a wonderful job installing the new wood and refinishing the floor. The old and new portions of the floor all look new and the completed floor simply looks fabulous. (Thanks guys!)

Sorry to slam a local business, but I have to share a most unpleasant experience. Absolute Flooring refinished my living room floor and installed kitchen and dining room flooring. That work was fine. While it was underway, we asked them to add 4 stairs and a short hallway. Big mistake not asking for the price for this small additional amount of work.
The invoice came back for even more than the price of the entire living room! I should have sensed that the owner would take it as an opportunity pay his non-working crew during the pandemic. The charge for that small area was EIGHT (8!) TIMES other quotes, both online and by other local contractors. (My contractor convinced them to bring it down a little, but the price was still outrageous.) Plus, the work Absolute Flooring did was just "fair", as the stairs barely looked different than what had existed, and the workers damaged the adjoining sides of the walls, and I had to patch and repaint those areas. I contacted this vendor but received no satisfaction. I cannot recommend this vendor.

We purchased carpeting and hard wood flooring, we wanted to keep the business local, Sandra who runs the show room is so nice and very helpful she knows her stuff, Sam the owner came to our home to give us a quote, the pricing is very competitive, Sam is very professional and determined to make you happy, the workers are very good, polite and keep your house clean during the process, the floors look great, Sam said that maybe the carpet in the master bedroom would need re stretching in about a year Sam said just call him, this would be a free service, well 14 months later the carpet needed an adjustment, Called Sam he came right out a few days later, sent his crew over and everything is good, no stress just great customer service and workman ship. This is my first time using them under new management. I am incredibly impressed. 1. They worked with me during the bidding process vs one take it or leave it approach. 2. They went over and above the work promised. 3. The owner came many times to check the progress himself. 4. And this is unique. on time and on budget. I highly recommend absolute flooring. From the beginning in the showroom with Sandra through the final walk-though with Sam we were ABSOLUTEly pleased with the experience. Sam's quote regarding price and time to get it done was so precise we had no surprises at the end. Though Sam did stop by several times during the project he was also able to leave us in the hands of a very capable crew - most days just two of them. Gabe and Julio were amazing. They are fast, efficient and their work is beautiful. The entire team provides great customer service and all are very pleasant to work with. Highly recommend!.

We just had our living room & dining room floors refinished by Absolute Flooring & we couldn't be happier! Patrick & his crew are amazing & they went above & beyond to make our floors look like new. The whole team was very professional & friendly & they even gave us a new Bona hardwood floor care kit, which was such a great surprise! We will definitely use them again when we get around to doing the rest of our floors!

This place is it! We recently bought a townhome in HMB that needed all the floors redone. We priced a couple of different flooring companies and decided to go with Absolute Flooring because their prices were reasonable and we wanted to stick with a small business and local company. The LVT and carpet was everything we wanted! Here comes the best part---3 weeks after the floor was installed there was a plumbing leak under the house and it was physically impossible to crawl under the house to get to the leak; going through our brand new floor was the only option.
Super sad about this I called Patrick and Sandra and told them the scenario. Man oh man these guys are amazing! They squeezed us into their schedule, took out the floor they just installed, opened the subfloor and then once the floor was repaired they came back and fixed it all with. I delay! It was apparent the we absolutely made the right decision to use Absolute Flooring as I am sure that if we had used a bigger company they would have given us the "too bad so sad about your plumbing and new floor problem problem". Patrick and Sandra are super helpful, easy to talk to and responsive and their crew does spot on work! Even though they are in Half Moon Bay these guys travel all over the area for jobs. If you want the best don't hesitate to use them for your next flooring project!

These people are great! After the manufacturer mislabeled its own sample, Absolute Flooring promptly and efficiently corrected the error and made adjustments to install the correct flooring in time for our deadline. They were friendly, helpful, calm and did what they could to expedite the shipment of the correct flooring at no additional cost to me. I am grateful for their professionalism and calm solutions to the problem not caused by them. Will use them again for my next flooring orders!

My husband and I have now used Absolute Flooring for two large jobs. We had an emergency need to replace all of the carpeting in our three story - 3,000 square ft house ASAP. After their office manager stayed late to meet with us after work hours and recommended the carpeting and pad based on our described needs - Patrick and his team installed all of the carpet in all of the rooms and two flights of stairs within the week.
The installation work looks great three months later - carpet looks great and I can't speak highly enough of Patrick or his team. They always arrived on time, were very respectful and professional and even helped us out with moving a few pieces of larger furniture (with agreed upon small fee). We would not even consider going to anyone else - on the coast or over the hill.
Follow Up Review: we also had severe damage to our hardwood flooring - Patrick planned out a strategy to replace the badly damaged flooring, sand and refinish all of the old/new flooring and ensure it all matched and looked perfect. Again his team did an outstanding job - the sanding process really was nearly completely dust free - they took great care to drape plastic to minimize any dust.
The wood floors never looked so good and we cannot be happier again with the quality, professional service PLUS - Patrick actually saved us a lot of money as we were prepared to replace all of the flooring and he managed to save most of it.

How can I sum up Patrick and his crews effectively. PROFESSIONAL! I have known Patrick for a long time, but never had the need to have floors refinished, so when we moved and HATED our carpet, I called to have him come out for an estimate. He showed up on time, and indicated I would have my estimate the next day, which I did! When his crew showed up, there were introductions, and his crew chief asked all the right questions, and got to work.
They did stain samples for us to choose, and even discussed days we would need to be out in order to keep the air movement down to end up with the best finish. We had several stains and missing boards on our existing floors, which were taken care of quickly, and at a very fair price. They even dovetailed trim boards around the room that were not there on one wall to keep consistency - something I had even missed when they pulled the carpet! Are his guys CLEAN?
Every day, sweeping, vacuuming, and organizing their tools. like professionals! It was so nice to go over and see the progress, and peek in to see clean, organized materials and tools! Walking into our house when it was done was breathtaking. Everything was finished to perfection! Patrick spent time with us to discuss care and cleaning as well! We were so pleased, we called him back to finish our family room, hall and son's room 3 weeks later - this room had NO hardwoods, and everything had to be laid down.
His crew had the undaunting task of matching the wood, as well as stain color, which they pulled off without a hitch! It is like living in a totally different home! I cannot express how much I would recommend Patrick. My father-in-law is using him to refinish his floors now, and I will keep giving his name out. His crews are that good!

Our floors were completed yesterday and we could not be happier. We had bamboo floors in four rooms and carpet on stairs. From the first time we walked into the showroom to the time the crew finished the work, we were blown away by the service, quality, and result. Sandra in the showroom and through out the process -- immediate, complete, thoughtful communication. Proactive and flexible.

I tried to schedule an appointment with Patrick. He was very aggressive, didn't want to schedule with me, kept trying to pass me off to someone else, and hung up on me three times. If this is how they do business over the phone, I can only imagine the quality of their work. Keep away unless you want to be jerked around and ignored with any concerns.

We recently purchased a two-story house with older carpeting and a limited amount of oak hardwood flooring. Patrick and his crew took out the old carpeting and installed oak hardwood throughout, and refinished the older floor so that the finish would be consistent with the new install. We also had Absolute install a beautiful natural wool carpet runner on the stairway and as a matching area rug in the hallway above the stairs.
It all turned out beautifully. The installation crews were very competent and pleasant, and showed up on time. There were some glitches along the way, as there always seem to be with contracting jobs, but they were resolved relatively painlessly, and with my husband and me feeling like we got a fair deal and responsive customer service, with a contractor able to meet our tight timeframe. Absolute's showroom manager, Sandra, is very friendly and helpful, and let us keep carpet samples to consider with paint colors, match furniture, etc.
As a side note, the no-loop natural wool carpeting we installed seems to be pretty resistant to our cat's scratching efforts (aargh), and stains, so far. We also just sold our previous home and had Absolute refinish the older oak hardwood floor and install new, relatively inexpensive carpeting prior to sale. They were able to turn the job around quickly even though they were super busy, and it looked fantastic.
I understand that Absolute is redoing the wood floors (or portions of them) in the house at Filoli Gardens -- that tells you that they really know what they are doing! I would recommend Patrick and his crew to anyone looking for flooring.

Terrible customer service! I live in a condo and our floors were being refinished due to some water damage from our common area windows. The HOA was responsible for the payment and selected Absolute Flooring. They would not accept a check from the HOA. Instead, they wanted the check from me and the HOA could reimburse me later. Fine. They completed the floors on a Wednesday.
By Friday (2 days later) they threatened to put a mechanics lien on my property. What? In addition, the reason for the delay was because they would not let me mail in the payment. I had to coordinate to meet one of their employees to give them the check at my house or drive to Half Moon Bay and drop the check off. I have two small kids and I work full time.
I don't have time to do that. To make matters worse, their cheap laborer damaged my wall and cracked my kitchen door and I still have not gotten reimbursed for that. Definitely stay away.

Incompetent, irresponsible, dishonest, and surly! AVOID! This company installed wood flooring when we did a major remodel. We had multiple problems due to their incompetence. This was the only subcontractor that was a problem for us. We paid premium prices but ended up with a completely botched installation that they took no responsibility for. A complete nightmare.
Their basic working premise seems to be to hire some cheap temporary labor to do the job and then blame the customer when the quality of the installation is poor. Stay far away! The large number of filtered reviews here on Yelp also speaks to the owner's lack of integrity. Several of the other unfiltered 5 star reviews are plants by Half Moon Bay business owners in exchange for positive reviews from this business owner.
