I paid $1,200 above quoted price and the end results are HORRIBLE. Buyers beware- this guy will try to scam you. I hired him to cover up pet stains. He advised that after he is done the stains would not be gone but he promised it will look much better. Then he quoted $2,700 for natural cherry colored stain. I suggested he does darker stain. He agreed to do that but said it will cost more for darker staining - the revised quote was up to $3,900 because staining the floor darker will require different materials and will be more labor.
We agreed to do the more expensive darker stain because it will make the pet stain less visible and in his contract he wrote down that he will be staining the floor the darker Jacobean color. When he started the work he called and said that he feels natural cherry will look better for the stain so we shouldn't do the darker Jacobean color staining we had agreed on.
He said that he thinks that doing the darker (more expensive and more labor intensive) Jacobean color we agreed on would make the stain look worse. However he refused to change the price back to the original $1,200 lower price he had quoted for the lighter natural cherry. He claimed he was doing extra work he didn't expect- removing three closet doors he didn't plan on and other stuff he didn't elaborate on.
I had no idea what extra work he was doing. After paying $1,200 above quote for natural cherry color staining the pet stain I hired him to cover up looked as bad as before he did the work- there's no difference in the visibility of the stain before and after and, contrary to the promise he made that it look much better, it looks as terrible as it did before he did the work.
The extra work he did was remove and put back three closet doors and put some personal belongings from the kitchen counters of and the window sills of my studio inside kitchen cabinets and the bathtub. Charging 1200 for this is ridiculously excessive. I could have found someone from the building staff who would have removed those doors and put them back for a lot less $100-$200.
He also should have included that charge in his original quote as he clearly saw the closet doors when he came to my unit to give me a quote. As far as putting my belongings away he only removed items from the kitchen counters and window sills-I would have done this myself in less than an hour if he had properly informed me about everything that needs to be done before he came to do his work.
He only told me to remove everything from the floors and I did that - there was nothing on the floors per his directions. He mentioned NOTHING about having everything from the kitchen counters and window sills removed- I would have easily done this if he had told me and avoided a ridiculous and excessive $1,200 surprise charge that was a result of his improper communication.
It was due to his own mistake and not properly communicating everything that needed to be done before he came over to do his work that he had to put my stuff away and HE CHARGED A RIDICULOUSLY HIGH AMOUNT FOR WORK HE DID AS A RESULTS OF HIS OWN MISTAKE. To make it worse, because of him moving stuff under my nose, I can't account for some of my personal belongings that were in the pantry and I am still looking for them.
Finally I still don't understand why he subsequently changed his mind and felt that staining the whole floor the much darker Jacobean color we agreed on and listed in the contract( and the extra $1,200 price for which I paid though he didn't do) would have made the pet stain worse. I would have thought it would have made the stain blend better with the rest of the much darker stained floor.
I think he just wanted to cut his costs and effort and make more money out of me at the expense of quality. I think working with him was a complete scam- I paid $1,200 above what he had quoted for the work he actually did and the main task I hired him to do didn't get accomplished. The place of the floor where the stain is still looks HORRIBLE.

Mira's Flooring is a fantastic company! We had water damage from the fridge and we had to do water restoration before fixing the floor. The restoration company did a horrible job by ripping more wood than needed to they can charge more for rebuild. I fired them and hired Miras Flooring. Mira F. Was punctual, communicative through the entire process, they were promotional but most of all they did an amazing job with my floor and exceeded my expectation.

Adrian and Cornell did a fabulous job restoring a floor that was in horrible shape. They deserve every penny they worked so hard for. in a hot un air-conditioned upstairs apartment, last July. (My apologies!) What a transformation of the apartment. at a very fair price. I highly recommend Mara's Flooring. Service: Repair flooring

The floor is 65-70% better. Adrian was upfront that the floor wouldn't be 100% better unless I had it sanded so my expectations were lower going in. There are some very noticeable blotches in very noticeable areas (the stain didn't take in some areas and it looks like too much in other areas). Also, a hair pin was somehow stuck in the finish. The chemical smell is strong for several days after which is to be expected. Adrian was very responsive and showed up when he said. Overall floor is better than it was before.

Excellent from start to finish. I am very pleased with our new hardwood floors. On the appointment day the crew was there ready to go on time. Very friendly and polite contractor. Hard working, fast and they did a very nice job. The site protection and clean up was also very good. Communication throughout was great - Adrian always responded promptly to telephone calls and emails. Excellent value for money. I cannot recommend these guys enough. Thank you!

I needed to get my floors re stained in order to sell my condo in the city. I contacted Mara''s flooring and a few other companies. Adrian offered a competitive price. When it came time for the stain we picked out something that would go good with the condo. Also it was easy to schedule a stain date and he let us know what needed to be off the floor. Adrian and his team did a great job with my condo and I had an offer on my condo before it went live on the MLS!

We had beautiful hickory wood floors and needed to one area fixed from sun damage. We knew we needed the whole floors done. This company came out and sanded the floors and finished them in one day. We weren't allowed to go back into our house for two days until it totally dried. He insisted on being paid 50% upfront and the 50% when he completed.
We can only see what he did from the doorway. it looked like there might be some issues but he assured me when it finished drying it would blend in. Well, when we finally went into our home to check everything out, we realized they ruin our beautiful floors. The finish was very uneven (heavy in some spots and light in others). The sanding was also uneven.
There were also marks left on the floor from them and varnished over. And of course he went straight to my bank to cash the check. Also, we completed covered our laundry room and kitchen so it wouldn't get and dust from the sanding. For some reason which he never explained to me, and I asked twice, they removed the plastic covering and the kitchen and laundry room were full of dust. It was horrible. And of course they are not returning my calls.

We had beautiful maple floors in our 80 year old home that needed two repairs on a area that was stained which we asked to be removed and replaced as well as another location where a backer had broken to support flooring. We asked for a darker stain and then seal and two coats of finish which Adrian had agreed to all work to me and my husband. His price was a little high at a cost of $2.10 per foot.
The standard cost across the board of contractors charge $1.60 but since he was doing repairs and guaranteed if there was any problems he would always take care of it. Well it was all a lie. He never did repairs. He never used the right stain and he did not do two coats of finish. And on top of it all he ruined our floors the guy operating the edger which is the tool that sands around the areas closer to the walls.
It was all wavy, grooved, burned marks and just all miss match stain line around every room. It was awful. We contacted Adrian after we seen the floors next day when they were dry and we seen all the problems. He said it was the best he could do and that's it hes done. The worst thing is he lie by showing our daughter who delivered check for us.
He showed her some photos of some areas that looked ok so she paid him the $1600.00 which I would have never given him if I was able to see the floor but since they have to dry before we could walk on them It was the next day when we seen all the damage. Now we have to waste our time and energy to write yelp reviews, send reports to BBB and file complaint with State of Illinois plus we must now take this guy to court for the horrible workmanship and we also had to pay another contractor to repair them and finish them correctly. he also could not believe any flooring contractor did a job like this and that Adrian said it was good and that it is the best they could do! STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS GUY!

BUYERS BEWARE this GUY is just looking to make a quick buck! I am very much dissatisfied with the final result of the service I received from Mara's Flooring. As All of the scratches that were there before the buff and gloss are still there and even more visual than they were before this service. The impression Adrian gave me during his consultation was a warning that ALL scratches would not come out but MANY would or wouldn't be as visual because of the shine.
This is not the case at all. Covering up the scratches and the pink spots were my main concerns and I trusted Adrian's expertise and honest quote that the buff and gloss would address this concern at least somewhat. The final product does not look like a large financial investment was made to refinish the floors in my unit. When I reached out to Adrian regarding my dissatisfaction and requested additional services to refinish the floors properly I was told to check in with him in two months and he would "try" to help.
When I shared that was unacceptable as well, I received no response. Needless to say I will be reporting this business to the Better Business Bureau. Its so good to find decent businesses providing good customer service and honest quotes. Save yourself the stress and money and go with another flooring company.
