Like most trees that sustain the hardwood flooring industry, the seed for Ace Hardwood Flooring was planted in Austin, TX after Mark Szeneri relocated from California in 1977. In 1985, a nurturing mix of craftsmanship, integrity, value, and faith saw two new branches sprout from Ace Hardwood's continual growth: our milling warehouse and, most prominently, The Mesquite Collection.
We maintain strict adherence to NWFA (National Wood Flooring Association) recommendations and guidelines and implement techniques developed throughout multiple generations of experience. Ardex in sub floor preparations: We insist on Ardex K-15 with Ardex P-51 primer for floating dips in concrete slabs, to within NWFA tolerances.
Solid hardwood flooring is exactly what the name implies: a solid piece of wood from top to bottom, milled from a single piece of lumber. The thickness of solid wood flooring can vary but generally ranges from " to 1/2". One of the many benefits of solid wood flooring is that it can be sanded and refinished multiple times.
Our professional sand and finish crews are experienced in all types of finishes. This experience lends them the ability to judge distinguishable differences and the varying appearances of finished floors; from natural to colored floors. And of course, our crews respect your trades' finished work. You will see the same skilled craftsmen on your projects time after time.

Mark, Liz and the whole team were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful in bringing my flooring vision to life. If you're like me and know absolutely nothing about wood, Mark will take the time to explain everything to you. I've met with other flooring people during the decision process and let me just save you some time- go to ace! They stand behind their high quality products and it's comforting to know how experienced their employees are.
Even after the floors were installed and they were paid in full, I had questions about some parts of the flooring and someone came out immediately to walk through and talk to me about it. They want to make sure you are completely satisfied with the work. Our floors are absolutely stunning!

Ace did a fabulous job repairing and refinishing the entire downstairs from a water problem. 2 large sections of floor and subfloor needed to be replaced. Boards match perfectly. Changed stain and finish to update the flooring, which Ace installed during construction 21 years ago. Do yourself a favor and choose a full service hardwood flooring company. Floors were completed on schedule and any deviation from original bid was clarified by The Owner prior to starting project.

Ace Harwood employees were friendly and helpful when selecting a floor. But the problem came in installation. The original work crew was undermanned and without adequate tools. I had to provide tools that kept the job moving. We specifically asked twice that the bid only include dustless demo and it did not, which the salesperson without prompting from us disclosed on the day the job started.
He knew we expected it since he brought it up. The first crew on the job said the job would take twice as long as the salesperson estimated. The first crew said they wouldn't move a refrigerator which was called out in the bid. My wife and I even had to do tile demo ourselves to keep on the schedule the salesperson told us! Ace did bring in a good crew to finish the job on time.
That saved the job. But the avoidable headaches the first two days during demolition were significant and could have been avoided with a good crew and dustless demo which we said to include. Ace subcontracts the installation, and I had to inform them of the problems as they arose. So be sure you get an A team for installation if you buy from Ace Hardwoods.

Our experience working with Ace Hardwood was first rate from my first phone call to when the work was complete. Tim was very knowledgeable and responsive in my initial call to him and subsequent meeting for a quote. Steve and Branden who actually did the work were extremely conscientious and treated our (new) home as if it were their own. When I wasn't sure what stain color I wanted they put down a total of 12 stains for me to see how different treatments would affect the wood. I have sung their praises to my co-workers and recommended them to several real estate and interior design people. These folks are true craftsmen and professionals.

The workmanship on our mesquite floor refinishing was very good. The problem came afterwards. Their rep had committed from the beginning to move our furniture out of the space and to move it back when the job was completed, which was part of our reason to hire them. When it came time to move the furniture back, the owner tried to weasel out of the commitment by saying that it was not in the written contract. He finally relented, but his attitude was that he was doing us a favor by honoring what his employee had promised.

They put hardwood flooring in our living area a couple of years ago. The floor turned out beautiful. We have nail down hardwood that was hand scraped & we were very pleased at the finished product. They have great customer service. We recently had a small issue in one area of the floor, they came right out & took care of it at no cost to me & easily fixed the issue. Highly recommend!

These guys installed our hand scraped hickory floors when we built our home 10 years ago. Last summer we had water damage to about half of our house and those floors had to be pulled out and replaced. They meticulously matched the scrape, the stain and the finish to our existing floors and did so with care. Never worried about having them in my home while we were away. These gentlemen take pride in their work and it shows. It was a long process but they finished in the agreed time. Would definitely work with them again.

We thought that we had decided the coloring for our mesquite floor, but the folks at Ace were very helpful during the installation. We have a very elaborate brick fireplace and we were offered sawing a half inch gap in the bricks or caulking along the mesquite and boards after installation. With hesitation, we selected the saw option and the results were outstanding.
The installer was very skillful in carefully sawing the brick and cutting the mesquite boards to fit within the cut. We had our minds set on bleaching the wood, but the installer recommended just sealing and putting some urethane on samples to see the true beauty of the wood. We changed our minds and could not be more happy with the final look. They are a wonderful group, who we highly recommend.

When our general contractor told us he would not be able to match our existing hardwoods we went over to Ace and they came out the same day and were able to tell us that they could match the floors. They did an incredible job - they were fast and did beautiful work. I would use them again and have recommended them to other people in our neighborhood.

I went there this past Friday to buy some moulding and I was glad I stopped by before deciding to just head over to the Home Depot. The people at this store were knowledgeable and friendly, answering all my "dumb" questions which clearly revealed my ignorance in flooring. I found all the pieces I needed (oak corner piece and hickory moulding) and didn't have to go to Home Depot afterwards.
The price for 3 Oak corner pieces and 3 hickory pieces (all about 8 feet each) ended up being $149 to give you an idea of their rates. The only knock on this place is that they don't accept credit card.only cash or check which was a bummer when I got there because they never mentioned it over the phone before I left. But it was no biggie as there was a bank down the street where I could get cash.
