Magic Maple Stain is a water-based acid stain that has been sold commercially since 1955. The original formula was created by Ken Thompson of Slippery Rock, Pa to highlight the curl on maple gun stocks. Dunlap Woodcrafts acquired the formula from Ken Thompson in 1988. Ever since it was formulated, Magic Maple has not had a specific way to be used, or what to use it on.

Daniel and his crew are incredibly helpful. They have extensive inventory (most is unmilled, but some milled - local and exotic - and lots of live edge stuff) and walked with me through the shop to find the perfect pieces. You can buy as is or let them mill it for you, for a completely reasonable fee. He's also always happy to discuss your project and give you ideas on what might look best. I don't think I've experienced better customer service anywhere! Thanks!

I'm a small customer. Only ordered 2 handles for a project with my grandson but Dunlap treated me as if I was an important customer. Fast delivery! And the handles were exactly as I had hoped and I am looking forward to creating a heritage tomahawk with my grandson. Oh, and they were VERY well packed to protect from damage during shipping. Thanks for the great service!

After a couple emails I decided to make the 45 minute drive to buy one piece of lumber. Staff was very courteous and helpful. Not only did they give me an hour of their time, they also gave some advice on best ways to address my project and showed me an amazing panel they were working on. Absolutely fantastic customer service!

I can't say enough good things about Dunlap and everyone who works there. The selection of live edge wood and lumber is fantastic, their knowledge of wood, techniques, finishing, etc. is superb, and, most importantly, their customer service is fantastic. Whenever I start a new project, Dunlap is my first stop and Daniel is always able to point me in the right direction.
